Beginning Scuba Education And What It Is
The challenge of becoming SCUBA certified is usually not a problem, however there are some things you need to consider before doing it. What many people consider challenges, others will consider hurdles they need to cross and will do so without too much of a problem. To get the most out of the course, a serious frame of mind must be assumed while taking part in the training. It is of great importance to stay focused as this knowledge will be with you for a lifetime. Keep an eye out for fine details you will discover along the way. Having this type of mindset while underwater will allow you to make fewer mistakes that may become life-threatening.
To become certified in open water scuba diving, the training has three basic parts. To get an important overview of diving, and what is possible, is the first part, which is orientation. Knowing every aspect is necessary so you will know what to become familiar, and proficient with, before the actual training begins. The second part is now to begin the actual training in the classroom. Important parts of the teaching will be the physiology of diving, how to know the hazards, and such things as how to use dive tables the right way. Now that the classroom training is over, it is time to put everything together by getting into the water, for individual on-hands training.
When you are working on your confined water dives, you will need to successfully perform five dives. In order to increase your competency and skills, each dive that you successfully complete will be harder the next time. The way that each dive is made more difficult is requiring you to do more tasks while underwater. One task that all newbie divers must learn to complete is cleaning their mask while submerged. To handle regulator malfunctions underwater, you learn to share yours with a buddy and vice versa. As a prerequisite to being able to actually dive in the ocean or a larger body of water, trainees must learn these essential skills.
The next phase of this training actually allows you to go from the swimming pool to the open water. Once there, you are now required to do what is called standard training curriculum which is basically a new set of skills and rules to learn. You will be required to swim 200 yards, without any gear, to start this segment of your training. Once this is done, you must wear your gear, and swim 300 meters with your mask, fins, and snorkel. Finally, you will have to tread water for at least 10 minutes. The only test that is not timed, however, is the distance swim. Scuba training and your need to be in good physical health, will validate your questionnaire, as you sink deeper under the water. As dangerous as scuba diving can be, it is obvious that you should err on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
