Top Four Reasons Which Explain Why Bottled Water Is Hurting The Earth
When you go for bottled water instead of soft drink or fruit juice, you often feel just like you are going for the healthy, economical option. But the bottled water industry is far more sinister than you would think.
1. Bottled water makes a contribution to global warming.
Bottled water is accountable for 1.5 million tons of plastic waste per year. Simply manufacturing the plastic for these bottles costs 47 million gallons of oil yearly. At least they’re re-usable, right? Water bottles are virtually always re-usable, but more than 80 per cent never make it past the trash. Hopeless.
2. Bottled water is expensive.
The average price for a small serve of bottled water is 2 dollars. The average price of the same serve of tap water is less than one cent. Per gallon, bottled water is costlier than oil. In fact , the industry is priced at an average of US$60 bln each year.
3. In most Western nations, bottled water isn’t cleaner or more healthy than tap water.
Tap water frequently has fluoride added to reinforce your teeth, while bottled water does not. Most countries, including America and the US, have no law that states bottled water has to be better quality than tap water. Despite the slick advertising on the front of bottled water, featuring crystal clear water running thru spotless valleys, bottled water doesn’t make anyone look healthier or sportier. It is all part of an advertising campaign by the enormous corporations who own the primary bottled water brands that works by selling us a product we don’t need thru scare-mongering and pretty footage.
