The district itself not only includes Ayia Napa and Protaras, two of the most known holiday resorts on the island but also is home to a lot of other small villages known as the ‘red soil villages ‘ due to the rich copperish colour of the very fertile soil. Paralimni has now become the administrative town of the area and bears little resemblance to the sleepy rural backwater of the early 1970s. Larnaca (LCA) is the closest airport to villas and apartments in Pernera and sits about 45 minutes away by car.
